About

Born in Esslingen, Germany, my journalism path has spanned from Europe to the heart of Silicon Valley. From July 2017 until August 2023, I served as ARD’s West Coast correspondent for TV, radio, and online, working out of San Francisco. During that time, I covered everything from cutting-edge technology to California’s vibrant political and cultural stories, offering a broad spectrum of West Coast perspectives to audiences back home in Europe. Before settling in the Bay Area, I pursued my passion for broadcasting and international reporting through diverse experiences. After graduating from high school, I served as a second lieutenant with the German Armed Forces Radio and interned at Aufbau, a New York-based newspaper focused on German-Jewish emigrant stories. A subsequent yearlong internship with the BBC World Service in London further ignited my enthusiasm for global journalism.I went on to study political science in Bonn while hosting the morning show at SWF3 (an ARD affiliate often considered a “cult” radio station at the time). Early in my career, I received the Kurt Magnus Award, a prestigious ARD honor for emerging radio talent. I then helped launch DASDING, Germany’s first tri-media youth program at SWR, which earned one of the inaugural Grimme Online Awards. My path continued at BR (Bayerischer Rundfunk) in Munich, a regional broadcaster with over 4,000 employees where I worked as a consultant and assistant to the CEO. During this period, I focused on ARD-related initiatives and the organization’s shift to digital platforms. Beginning in 2015, I helped establish a new software development department at BR to streamline processes and strengthen the broadcaster’s digital offerings. After concluding my role at ARD, I collaborated with various US and European broadcasters and publishers, remaining committed to nuanced, on-the-ground reporting. Drawing on my experiences in both Europe and California, I continue to combine my fascination with technology and my passion for storytelling, delivering insightful coverage to audiences worldwide.
